CN will begin its annual vegetation management program across Ontario’s rail lines from April to October 2025. The program aims to reduce fire risks and enhance track inspection safety, not for aesthetic purposes.
Certified professionals from Davey Tree Expert Company of Canada, Ltd. will apply herbicides on and around the tracks, primarily in the 24-foot gravel area. These herbicides include products like Arsenal Powerline, Clearview, and Roundup WeatherPro, all approved for use in Canada.
The program follows strict safety requirements, ensuring herbicides are applied with setbacks around dwellings, water sources, and municipal supplies.
CN has emphasized that the use of herbicides helps ensure the safe operation of the railway and mitigate potential hazards. For further information or inquiries, CN encourages the public to visit their website or contact the CN Public Inquiry Line at 1-888-888-5909 or via email at contact@cn.ca.
