In Leeds-Grenville Thousand Islands Ontario PC Candidate Steve Clark has won a sixth term at Queen’s Park after an impressive win in the provincial election.
Clark has served as MPP since 2010, winning a by-election after then-MPP Bob Runciman accepted a position in the Canadian Senate. Clark has served in Cabinet as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and most recently as Government House Leader.
Locally Healthcare was a central issue for Clark.
And Clark says his government will be ready for any trade war, and vows to protect his constituents.
Lorna Jean Edmonds came in a distant second for the Liberals, the NDP’s Chris Wilson trailed her in third by a significant margin. He was followed by Fiona Jager for the Green Party of Ontario.
Going into the election, the riding was considered a safe win for Doug Ford’s Conservatives.
The results are almost a carbon copy of those from the 2022 general election, showing that the other parties have failed to make significant gains in the Conservative stronghold.
