
Gananoque and the islands buried in snow as major storm hits
A powerful winter storm is blasting Gananoque and the Thousand Islands today, bringing heavy snow and dangerous conditions. Up to 30 cm of snow is expected, with some areas seeing as much as 40 cm.
Snow is falling at 3 to 6 cm per hour, creating whiteout conditions with blowing snow. Roads will quickly become hazardous, and visibility may drop to near zero. Travel is not recommended.
The heaviest snow is expected this morning and afternoon, with conditions improving by evening. Residents are urged to stay off the roads and prepare for possible power outages.
