Brockville Police responded to a 911 on January 23rd at around 8pm regarding a call about a motor vehicle collision on Parkedale Ave., just west of Millwood Ave. The suspect vehicle, which had pulled out of a restaurant parking lot, collided with two vehicles and then fled the scene.
Officers located the suspect vehicle in the 1000 Islands Mall parking lot, where the 72-year-old male driver was allegedly found attempting to hide in a business. After speaking with the driver, officers determined he had been drinking. A roadside breath test resulted in a fail.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing, which confirmed he was impaired and over the legal limit. The man’s driver’s license was suspended, his vehicle was impounded, and he was charged with impaired operation, operating with a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg, and failure to stop after an accident. He was released with a future court date.
