The Ontario government is making it easier for seniors aged 80 and over to renew their driver’s licences by introducing a streamlined process. Starting February 3, 2025, seniors can complete mandatory vision and cognitive screening assessments and renew their licences in a single visit at ServiceOntario locations in Brockville and Kemptville. This service will expand to all locations, including Elgin, Gananoque, and Prescott, by spring 2025.
Minister Todd McCarthy emphasized the government’s commitment to providing accessible services for seniors, reducing wait times and ensuring they remain connected to their communities. Previously, seniors had to visit multiple locations to complete the renewal process.
Seniors will receive renewal notices by mail 90 days before their licence expires, with instructions to book an appointment online or by phone. MPP Steve Clark praised the initiative, highlighting its benefits for seniors across Leeds and Grenville by offering greater convenience and accessibility.
