The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) reinforced its dedication to cyber safety during the January 2025 board meeting.
CIO Steve Payne outlined the October Cyber Awareness Month initiatives, which featured age-specific themes for students in grades K-8 and 9-12. Weekly topics included cyber essentials, AI safety, online interactions, and digital wellbeing. Staff and students received program guides, lesson plans, and engaging content to promote safe digital practices.
Payne also shared that the board’s ICT Department prioritizes cyber security year-round, with awareness campaigns each October and detailed system audits conducted every March.
The board emphasized the need for continuous efforts to protect identities and ensure digital safety in today’s connected world. The initiative reflects CDSBEO’s commitment to equipping students with the knowledge to navigate technology responsibly.
