A pedestrian was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross Highway 401 in Kingston during the early hours of January 16, 2025.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Frontenac OPP responded to a collision between Highway 15 and the Montreal Street exits. Despite the efforts of Kingston Fire Rescue and Frontenac Paramedic Service, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The highway was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the incident. The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigator, along with the Ontario Coroner’s Office, is leading the ongoing investigation.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed. Frontenac OPP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.
