A local initiative is once again rallying the Kingston community to fight hunger during the holiday season.
The 7 Days of Care-ing, founded in 2018, highlights the generosity of Kingstonians and supports the Kingston Partners in Mission Food Bank.
The event is on now and wraps up this Friday. Organizer Care Humphries says the campaign focuses on the food bank’s top wish list items.
There have been a few repeat locations this year like the Highway 15 Food Basics and Taylor Auto Mall. Care let us know where they’ll be today and tomorrow (Thursday).
The final day sees all donations tallied and delivered to the food bank.
The campaign responds to rising food insecurity, worsened by inflation and economic challenges. Families are struggling with tough choices, such as paying rent or buying groceries. Care, who once relied on the food bank herself, says the initiative is her way of giving back.
Residents can participate by donating in-person or making online contributions through the food bank’s website.
