Vanessa Birt, a non farmer, decided that she wanted to get involved in agriculture and has thoroughly enjoyed what she does with 4H in Leeds County.
She has worked on several different farms across the region and really enjoys showing cattle at several competitions.
Her dad grew up on a farm and she, along with her sister, got involved in the dairy side of farming for the last 12 years.
She says this is something she wants to do for the rest of her life. She says she really thanks the community for being there when you just simply need a friend and says she has learned so much from many people she has met.
One of the successful keys to being good is accepting change, she says never get “stuck in your ways”. She says technology, when it works, it can be a hassle, but when it’s working right, things run so efficient, which allows farmers have more time to be with family and take a break from the day to day operations.
