After an investigation into a break and enter on August 16th, three people are facing charges. Leeds County OPP say the three people were seen at a location on Eric Hutcheson Road loading copper wire into a vehicle. Police arrived and arrested a 47 year old, the other two suspects were located and arrested a short time later. All three suspects will appear in court in September in Brockville for many charges including break and enter. A total of $40,000 of wire was recovered
A 47 year old from Toronto was charged with:
• Break, enter a commercial property with intent to commit indictable offence – Criminal Code 348(1)(a)
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – Criminal Code 354(1)(a)
• Mischief, destroys or damages property – Criminal Code 430(1)(a)
• Theft over $5000 – Criminal Code 334(a)
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine Unit attended to assist in locating the outstanding individuals. A short time later a 35 year old from Scarborough was arrested and charged with the same criminal offences.
The third person, a 39 year old from Toronto was arrested later the same day and charged with the same four criminal charges as well as failure to comply with undertaking, CC 145(4)(a).
