An 18-year-old from Lansdowne is facing charges after a traffic stop in Gananoque led to the discovery of open alcohol and a refusal to comply with a roadside screening demand.
On March 21, 2025, officers with the Gananoque Police Service observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted, and while speaking with the driver, officers noticed open alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was asked to provide a roadside breath sample but refused, resulting in their arrest.
The individual was transported to the police station and charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand. The driver was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
As part of the penalty, their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. No injuries or collisions were reported.
