On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Howe Island County Ferry will be out of service from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm for the installation of a new drive system. Technicians from Timberland Equipment Ltd., along with staff from the Ministry of Transportation, will carry out the work during this time. Additionally, the ferry crew will undergo training to operate the new system efficiently.
The ferry’s temporary closure is essential to enhance the vessel’s performance and ensure smooth operation moving forward. Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly, as no ferry service will be available during these hours.
The Ministry of Transportation appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this important upgrade to the ferry system.
