The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands (TLTI) Council has approved the 2025 tax rate, following the finalization of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (UCLG) budget. The overall residential tax rate is 5.2%.
For a median-assessed home valued at $206,000, the annual property tax bill will rise by $116, reaching $2,355. Of this increase, $71 is attributed to TLTI, while $45 comes from UCLG. The education tax rate remains unchanged.
Mayor Corinna Smith-Gatcke expressed gratitude to staff and Council for their work on the budget, emphasizing its complexity and importance.
The 2025 operating budget includes a net tax levy of $12.87 million, while the capital budget of $14.89 million is contingent on grant approvals.
The tax rate by-law allows property taxes to be levied and collected under the Municipal Act.
