To mark Oral Health Month, the Southeast Health Unit is increasing awareness of government-funded programs that help families and individuals with low-to-moderate incomes access essential dental care. Good oral health is vital to overall well-being, and residents are encouraged to learn more about the following programs:
Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP): Provides free routine dental services for low-income seniors (65+) with a net income of $25,000 or less (single) or $41,500 (couple). OSDCP clients can access services in Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark counties through Rideau Community Health Services.
Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO): Offers free preventive, routine, and emergency dental services for children and youth 17 and under from low-income households. Family net income eligibility starts at $27,746 for one dependent child.
Canadian Dental Care Program (CDCP): A federally-funded program covering preventive, routine, and emergency services for seniors (65+), children under 18, and adults with disabilities. Starting May 2025, all eligible Canadians aged 18-64 can apply.
For details on eligibility and how to apply, residents can contact the oral health team at 1-800-660-5853.
