A road rage incident on Highway 401 led to a collision and charges for both drivers involved. On March 28th around 7:30 a.m., Frontenac OPP responded to reports of two vehicles engaged in dangerous driving. A car was attempting to overtake a tractor-trailer on a two-lane section of the highway, while a pick-up truck pressured the car to move. Both drivers engaged in brake-checking and tailgating before the pick-up truck side-swiped the car while using the left shoulder to pass.
The car was able to pull over and call police, but the driver of the pick-up truck fled the scene without providing required information. No injuries were reported, but the damage to both vehicles exceeded $5,000.
Charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act. The 61-year-old driver from Camden East was charged with unsafe lane change. The 57-year-old Odessa driver was charged with failing to remain and careless driving
