The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Gananoque unexpectedly closed its doors permanently on Thursday, March 27, and will no longer accept donations. For those wishing to donate, Donevan’s Hardware has stepped in as a drop-off location during business hours.
In response to the closure, a new initiative, Charlie’s Thrift Shop, will soon open to continue serving the community. The shop will feature a “Shop & Swap” free table. Donations can also be dropped off at Driftwood Thrift Shop, located at 9 King St East.
Donevan’s, the oldest and fully Canadian family business in Gananoque, has long been a community hub. With the closure of Hudson’s Bay, Donevan’s is stepping up to fulfill this important role. After a period of preparation, Donevan’s will open for shopping on Wednesday, April 9. Stay tuned for further announcements. For more details, contact Mary at 613-214-9141.
