A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Gananoque and surrounding areas, warning of moderate winds and continuing impacts from the recent ice storm. Southwest winds will gust up to 50 km/h this morning through early afternoon, shifting to northwest winds gusting up to 40 km/h in the afternoon and evening. These strong winds could cause additional damage to trees and power lines already weakened by the ice storm.
The storm deposited between 10 and 25 mm of ice on trees and hydro lines, and while temperatures have risen above freezing in some areas, melting ice combined with the gusty winds may lead to further disruptions. Local residents are advised to stay alert for potential power outages and debris from fallen trees. The weather is expected to continue impacting the area through this evening.
Residents are urged to monitor local updates and take necessary precautions for safety.
