The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, in partnership with the John Howard Society of Kingston and District, has launched the Pathways Supportive Cabins Program to provide safe, stable housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. The initiative, funded by the Ontario Homelessness Prevention Program and additional county investments, offers comprehensive support to help participants transition to long-term housing.
With controlled, invitation-only access managed by the John Howard Society, the program ensures those on the By Name List receive the necessary assistance in a structured environment. The official opening featured a facility tour and remarks from local officials, highlighting the collaborative efforts behind the initiative.
“This program represents an important step in our broader strategy to support those who are unhoused in our region,” said Warden Corinna Smith-Gatcke. MP Michael Barrett called it “monumental,” while Mayor Matt Wren emphasized its role in helping people regain stability.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to expanding support initiatives and working with community partners to address homelessness. The Pathways Supportive Cabins Program marks a critical step toward creating a more inclusive, supportive community.
