Kingston and the Islands MP Ted Tsu has provided an update for Wolfe Island ferry users regarding the delayed return of the Wolfe Islander IV.
Federal officials confirmed that the Burlington lift bridge, required for the ferry’s passage from dry dock in Hamilton, is closed for the season until March. While a special opening is possible, the ferry’s repair timeline remains uncertain.
Tsu emphasized the importance of clear communication, saying it’s unacceptable for residents to be left in the dark about essential transportation infrastructure. His office has asked the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) for regular updates on the repair status.
The ongoing repairs have left Wolfe Island residents and Kingston commuters without a clear timeline for the ferry’s return, raising concerns about travel disruptions.
Tsu pledged to continue advocating for transparency and timely updates to ensure the community stays informed about progress on the Wolfe Islander IV.
