The Town of Gananoque is reporting additional damage to the Gord Brown Memorial Outdoor Rink. While the rink remains open for use, the Town has warned that continued damage may lead to temporary closure for repairs and maintenance. Residents are urged to be mindful and respectful when using the facility to ensure it remains in good condition for all.
As part of the updated guidelines, the Town emphasizes that slap shots are not permitted due to the risk of injury to others and potential damage to the rink surface. Sticks, pucks, and balls must stay in contact with the ice to minimize harm.
Additionally, during public skating hours, no sticks or pucks are allowed. During shinny hockey hours, players are reminded that body contact, lifting the puck, and slap shots are prohibited to maintain a safe environment for all participants. The Town of Gananoque encourages the community to enjoy the rink responsibly.
