The Gananoque Secondary School cheerleading team is celebrating a big win after securing first place at a competition this past Saturday in Oshawa. The victory has earned them an invitation to the prestigious Canadian School Nationals, set to take place later this year in Ottawa, Ontario.
After placing fourth in their division at last year’s nationals, the team has been working tirelessly to prepare for even greater competition this year. Having moved up a division, they’ve been pushing themselves to master additional skills, aiming to achieve a higher level of performance at the upcoming national event.
“We are thrilled to have earned this bid,” said the team members. “This win boosts our confidence and helps with the financial costs of attending nationals. We’re excited to continue improving and show what we can do.”
Coaches Justin Parks and Robyn Ableson are equally proud of the team’s dedication. “They’ve really stepped up this year, and we can’t wait to see their performance in Ottawa,” said Parks.
The team’s next competition will be in Ottawa on February 22nd, where they will continue to fine-tune their routine in preparation for nationals later this year.
