Speechless is what Gananoque Poet Laureate Gretchen Huntley was after receiving a letter from MP Michael Barrett before Christmas. Huntley will receive King Charles III Coronation Medal for her achievements and service to our community. She spoke about her overall emotions when she received the package containing the letter.
She says writing is her passion.
She has many to thank for this recognition.
Along with her notable poetry works, Huntley also has made contributions to the Gananoque Food Bank and Humane Society. She added that going into Parliament Hill for this ceremony will be a whole other experience as she has been there many times to watch the changing of the guards. Huntley will be recognized at a ceremony this Saturday at 1pm at Parliament Hill.
