On January 13, 2025, staff at Joyceville Institution, a multi-level security federal facility, intercepted a package containing contraband, thanks to their vigilance and proactive measures.
The seized items included tobacco, marijuana, “shatter” (a cannabis concentrate), hashish, and cellphone accessories. The total estimated institutional value of the contraband is $79,785.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) continues to implement enhanced strategies to prevent contraband from entering its facilities, aiming to maintain a safe and secure environment for inmates, staff, and visitors.
CSC is committed to protecting the integrity of its institutions and works closely with law enforcement and community partners to address security risks.
