In celebration of National Child Day, the Every Kid in Our Communities (EKIOC) Coalition is relaunching its “Start with Hello” campaign. First introduced in 2019, the campaign encourages community members to greet children and youth, fostering positive relationships that make them feel safe, included, and valued. The initiative aligns with the Developmental Relationships Framework, emphasizing care, support, shared power, and expanded possibilities for young people.
EKIOC Coordinator Jane Hess highlights the campaign’s impact, stating, “By starting with a simple hello, we can inspire kindness, connection, and relationships that help young people thrive.”
Local organizations, businesses, and schools are invited to participate.
To mark National Child Day, the United Way Leeds & Grenville will host a free movie screening of My Penguin Friend at 6:30 p.m. Donations are welcomed. Tickets can be secured online, by phone, or in person. Visit everykid.on.ca for more details.
