Swift Waters Elementary School is set to welcome its first students on Wednesday, September 4th marking the first public elementary school opening in Brockville since 1973.
The new school, part of the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB), will accommodate around 420 students from the recently closed Toniata and Commonwealth Public Schools, with a capacity for 504.
Principal Sarah Stone expressed excitement about the school’s launch, highlighting its modern facilities, including 17 classrooms, a large gym, and green initiatives like solar panels and electric car charging stations.
The school grounds are being prepared with new play structures, sodding, and upgraded safety features in collaboration with the City of Brockville.
A formal grand opening is planned for early October.
