UPDATE 7:03: No major traffic events have occurred since the end of the eclipse. Please drive carefully as you hit the roads.
Previous story: The OPP are asking that you be kind and courteous as you hit the roads this evening after the total solar eclipse hit the area.
They ask that you drive with care and expect heavier than normal traffic as people make their way home from watching the eclipse.
Traffic was starting to increase out of Kingston headed west to Napanee and East to Gananoque as of 5pm.
Other routes heading north from the city and surrounding areas were busier than normal too.
The OPP asks that you remain patient while on the roads because, “Everyone else is trying to get home too.”
