The Gananoque Fire Service says people are plugging heaters into multi-plug adapters, those squares that turn a two outlet into six, and that’s not a good idea.
The department says the adapters can overuse circuits, resulting in a fire. Always plug heaters directly into the wall, no extension cords either.
Pictured is a multi-plug adapter that was discovered during a Fire Code compliance inspection.
The fire department says if not discovered and removed, this device could have contributed to a devastating outcome.
