A Firefighter in the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands was recently acknowledged for a heroic act in October of 2021.
TLTI Firefighter Dawn Kirkby recently received the Commissioners Citation for Lifesaving Award.
Kirkby witnessed a vehicle drive off a boat ramp and noticed the occupant could not get out.
Emergency services were called, life jackets were put on and they swam out to rescue the trapped person and successfully saved their life.
