A three year investment is coming to help the Gananoque and Brockville Police Services prevent auto thefts.
MPP Steve Clark recently announced that $515,836 will be invested to the municipalities police forces, as part of a new Preventing Auto Thefts Grant Program.
This is a major financial commitment for our two municipal polices services to take aim at auto theft,” said Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP, Steve Clark. “I congratulate this joint Brockville-Gananoque Police Services initiative and commend them for tackling this
important issue together.”
“Every 14 minutes a vehicle is stolen in Ontario and this investment will give police services the tools they need to successfully fight auto theft across the province,” said Solicitor General Michael Kerzner. “This grant will enable police services to work with law enforcement and logistics partners to enhance prevention, improve investigations and gather evidence to hold criminals accountable.”
This is one of 21 projects receiving a total of $18 million dollars to help prevent auto thefts in the province.
The program focuses on crime fighting measures such as prevention, detection, analysis and enforcement.
