
After going through name submissions, the Upper Canada District School Board has decided on a name for the new elementary school in Brockville.
Swift Waters Elementary School was chosen out of 98 name submissions. The name Swift Water, represents the current between Smith Island and the mainland.
The school will bring students together from Toniata and Commonwealth Public Schools at the end of the school year.
Nearly $30 million dollars has been invested and will hold around 504 students with around 440 expected to be enrolled when the bell rings and the doors open for the first classes in September of 2024.
