Mary Munroe has been around horses her entire life. This has turned into something she does every single day as the owner of Lone Pine Stables, which is located on Howe Island Ontario.
Munroe says at the age of 7 she learned to ride horses and use them as a means of transportation in the early years.
She has since become an award winning coach, receiving a 2023 Ontario Coaching Excellence award. Munroe says that trophies are not the biggest rewards, she gets from this.
She says it’s watching her students learn and grow as people, not just as riders. Many of the ponies she has on her Howe Island farm, were born and raised there over the years.
She also says what has contributed to the success of her farm, is her small group she teaches on a daily basis and it gives the students more close interaction and are able to learn more things.
