It’s Hidden Gems Day on 99.9 myFM. We spoke with local BBQ and Smoker expert Russell Jonassen. The Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands resident and father of three, found his passion for grilling and smoking by simply going out and getting himself a smoker. After many days of trying different methods, Jonassen turned to social media for more expert advice and from there has taken a fun hobby and made it into a labor of love. From making home cooked meals for wife Tammy and their three children, Jonassen tested his talents in several different competitions around Ontario with very impressive results. His success has recently led to others now reaching out to him for some expert advice, which he freely gives to those who are interested in getting their start.
