After battling with a brain tumor shortly after the passing of her grandmother at the age of 10, to becoming Marketing Coordinator for the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands and RED Project Coordinator for the Town of Gananoque, McKenna Modler is enjoying life in her hometown. Modler says that this is where she wants to be, helping both the Town and Township grow and be successful. Modler’s says one of the challenges that face young people today, is how social media makes them feel like they have to grow up really quick, as opposed to just having fun and being a kid. Her parents haven been her biggest influence throughout her entire life. From the battle she had at age 10 with her brain tumor, to what she does for a living today, Modler says they have supported her all the way. Modler loves the Town and Township and plans on being in the area for a long time, helping the community grow and looks to continue working in communications. She says the biggest piece of advice is to other youth, is to keep making connections and get out and volunteer in your community in any way you can.
