When the masking mandate expires next week public health experts say there remains a personal responsibility to keep yourself and others safe. Rebecca Shams is with the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit.
Shams says FIT is the most important factor when it comes to mask effectiveness.
Whether it’s reusable cloth, or disposable surgical and N95 style masks – if air leaks from a poor fit – that air is not being filtered. If you choose to continue wearing a mask after the mandate ends in Ontario next week
public health experts say FIT is very important.
Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit spokesperson Rebecca Shams says protecting the vulnerable is important once it’s no longer required to wear a mask in most settings, next week. Shams says with so many
masks on the market now – it’s important to wear one with a good fit.
Shams says proper masking remains important when you care for or interact with the vulnerable – including children under age five who haven’t been vaccinated.
