I came out of college and I needed to find a job. That’s how it all started for Eleonor Egidio, the current Volunteer Coordinator with Community Living. Egidio has been in this roll for over two decades and she says she thoroughly enjoys her job which involves helping make connections for the people they currently serve. She says one of the biggest challenges that her and everyone has been faced with is obviously COVID-19. She says moving friendships online also leads to leads to issues with communication due to lack of internet access, or many people they serve only having access to phone calls, which then leads to challenges for those who do not speak as a form of communication. Egidio says for those looking to become involved or to give back, she says Community Living has done a great job with being able to match volunteers with someone who also enjoys similar interests. She says every time a volunteer comes back to her saying that they are thrilled with their experience, is something that she says is one of her proud moments doing the work that she does everyday.
