A local park in Gananoque will now carry a legendary name. At the most recent Gananoque Town Council meeting it was voted unanimously to rename the park on William Street to Hal McCarney Park. McCarney was born and raised in Gananoque and was very active in the tourism industry purchasing the famous Gananoque Boat Line in 1970. McCarney was also named Keeper of the Gates from the 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce, one of his many awards.

– Director of the Tourism Industry of Canada.
