THOUSAND ISLANDS PLAYHOUSE TO HONOUR GORD BROWN
The Thousand Islands Playhouse is making a financial contribution in Gord Brown's name to a local club. One dollar from each ticket sold to the upcoming world premiere production of The Canadian will be put towards a bursary in MP Gord Brown's name to the Gananoque Canoe Club. The Canoe Club, former tenants at the Playhouse's dockside theatre, was a cause near and dear to the former MP who had been a champion kayaker with the club in the 1970's. MP Brown was a driving force behind TIP's stage rebuild that happened prior to the current theatre season and made many of the investments possible through the work he did to bring Eastern Ontario development programming to the area. The Canadian, a new play inspired by the 1000 Islands region, runs from July 28 - August 18.
