5/16/2018 7:54:10 AM

Highway safety has been a growing concern especially with tractor trailers carrying dangerous goods. Recently the MTO released a report concerning actions they will take in regards to the transportation of dangerous goods on the highway. Many MTO, Police and members of the Ontario Trucking Association were a part of a meeting on March 20th. Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands Mayor Joe Baptista was also a part of this group and was pleased with the results.

The MTO will be focusing on how to reduce travel speeds during inclement weather, increasing rest stops, auditing drivers files with dangerous goods, increase enforcement on distracted driving, vehicles being required to be equipped with Collision Mitigation Technology, data tracking and multilevel training for all drivers.
