The Ontario Real Estate Association is demanding better protections for home buyers with the legalization of Marijuana on the horizon. OREA President David Reid, says that the legalization will likely lead to more home pot-farming and that the results of growing pot indoors could have serious impacts on seniors and children. The OREA is proposing five policy changes to protect future home buyers, and real estate specialists across the province are weighing in on the concerns. Sales Person with Keyes Real estate in Gananoque Justin Webb says he completely agrees with the steps the association is taking.

Indoor Marijuana growth could also lead to fungus and mould growth in homes which could have unfortunate health effects on some. Some of the changes being proposed for the province to make to the policy, include designating illegal grow ops as unsafe under the Building Code Act, and mandating that illegal cannabis operations be inspected by municipal building officials.
