UNEMPLOYMENT STATS RELEASED FOR FEBRUARY
Statistics Canada has released National Employment Data for the month of February, 2018.
Our local unemployment rate is calculated at 4.0 percent, lowest in the Province of Ontario.
This was a decline of 0.4 percent from January of 2018, and an half percentage point drop from the numbers a year ago-- when the agency calculated the Kingston-Pembroke (our) reporting area's unemployment percentage at 4.5.
The Provincial unemployment rate, according to StatsCan, stood at 5.4 percent last month.
The Ontario figure for January 2018 was 5.2 percent, versus an estimated uemployment figure of 6.2 percent one year ago.
The National unemployment rate stood at 5.9 percent for February, 2018.
Country-wide unemployment rose slightly from January of 2018, when it stood at 5.7 percent.
A year ago, the coast-to-coast unemployment rate was 6.9 percent.
