Ontario has now become the National leader in concussion management and prevention. Ontario passed Rowan's Law which establishes mandatory requirements that call for annual review of concussion awareness resources that prevents, identifies and manages concussions that coaches would be required to review, removal and return to and from sport if they are suspected of having a concussion and a code of conduct that sets behavior rules to minimize concussions while playing. Gananoque Secondary School Athletic Director Jane Clark says the Upper Canada District School Board has a return to learn return to play policy where the student works with a doctor to help determine when the student can return to the class room and eventually to the game they love. This legislation was passed in honor of Rowan Stringer a 17 year old rugby player who's death resulted from multiple concussions. The legislation makes the last Wednesday in September Rowan's Law Day.
