The Town of Gananoque will receive up to roughly ninety seven thousand dollars in funding through the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affair's Rural Economic Development program in collaboration with the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands. The project, Creating an Ecosystem for Innovative Business, is designed to increase economic competitiveness and diversity through the region which will hopefully result in the expansion of markets and creation and retention of jobs. Gananoque Mayor, Erika Demchuk, says, "This is an excellent opportunity for the two municipalities to collaborate in attracting more diverse business into our communities to support the economy and create more services and jobs for our residents." The project will operate until December 2019 to effectively capture the audience and present an innovative marketplace intended to support entrepreneurship.
