FIRE PREVENTION WEEK FOCUSING ON HOME ESCAPE PLANS
10/10/2017 6:41:57 AM

Sunday marked the start of Fire Prevention Week which runs until Saturday. This years theme is "Every second counts; plan two ways out!" Fire Chief Steve Tiernan is urging families to practice their home fire escape plan as homes today burn up to eight times faster than 50 years ago. He says in a fire, you may have just seconds to safely escape your home. When it comes to fire escape planning, making sure that you have working smoke alarms on every level of the home and outside all sleeping areas, you identify all possible exits and everyone must know what to do when the smoke alarm sounds. Firefighters will be doing their door to door smoke alarm campaign this month.
