POLICE CHIEF ADDRESSES TRAFFIC CONCERNS DURING 401 CLOSURES
10/6/2017 6:47:20 AM

Gananoque Police Chief Garry Hull addressed a community concern about 401 traffic being diverted through town on Tuesday night. He addressed council at their meeting after council received a letter from the Gananoque BIA asking the town to do something to improve traffic flow. The letter suggested having Gananoque Police officers directing traffic along King Street to keep traffic moving. Hull says letting the traffic lights do their job is the fastest way to get traffic moving.

He also says the traffic flow on King Street is a legitimate concern, but at what cost to the taxpayers.

Mayor Erika Demchuk says she did bring up the idea of moving the Emergency Detour Route and the province is going to explore it again.
