8/10/2017 7:19:26 AM

The Town of Gananoque has hired a new fire chief. That announcement was made by CAO Shellee Fournier. Steve Tiernan comes to Gananoque from Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire and Emergency Services where he was the District Chief/Training Officer and Fire Prevention Officer. Mayor Erika Demchuk says the town is very excited to move the fire service forward under Tiernan's leadership. She also thanked Acting Fire Chief Gary Bullock who took on the position last fall. Tiernan says coming from the harbour village of Tobermory, north of Owen Sound, he sees many similarities with the Town of Gananoque including the influx of summer tourists and the direct water access. His first day with the Town is September 5th.
