LASALLE CAUSEWAY WATER SEARCH CONTINUES
5/19/2017 10:34:09 AM

With the water levels much higher than usual Kingston Fire and Rescue reminds everyone to exercise caution around shorelines, docks, and waterfront properties. KFR's Water Rescue team and Fire/Rescue Boat responded to a report of a person in distress in the water near the LaSalle Causeway shortly after 8:00 last night. Witnesses say they saw a man struggling to stay at the surface but he disappeared after one of them tried to rescue him. Firefighters were deployed to search the area, while the Fire Boat began conducting search patterns in the area south of the causeway. The Canadian Coast Guard arrived and began searching the area on the Cataraqui River north of the Causeway and were joined later by a Search and Rescue helicopter from CFB Trenton. The search lasted for almost three hours. The O.P.P dive team is assisting Kingston Police along with the Coast Guard and a Search and Rescue Helicopter from Trenton to continue the search for the man.
