TOWNSHIP OF FRONTENAC ISLANDS ACTIVATES EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN
5/18/2017 6:48:40 AM

The Township of Frontenac Islands has activated their Emergency Response Plan. The municipality, which includes Wolfe Island, Howe Island and the Frontenac Islands, activated the plan to assist in protecting the health, safety, welfare and property of their citizens. The Township says they anticipate an additional increase in water levels and increasing westerly winds. Sand bags and sand are available at the Public Works Garages on both Wolfe and Howe Island. Ferry operations on both the Simcoe Islander and Howe Islander are being closely monitored. The township ferry may stop operations if water levels rise much higher. The public works department has been reinforcing roads. The municipality recommends taking photos of any damages and receipts for expenses. The Ministry of Housing has yet to determine if this area is eligible for Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians funding, but if they do, those documents will be necessary.
