EASTBOUND TRUCK INSPECTION STATION TO UNDERGO UPGRADES: MTO
3/17/2017 6:59:03 AM

The eastbound truck inspection station is going to undergo some changes according to the Ministry of Transportation. In a letter addressed to the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands, in 2012, the MTO initiated an assessment to locate and construct a new Commercial Vehicle Inspection Facility. The MTO is changing from a Truck Inspection Station to a CVIF, as it improves the efficiency of the inspection process and makes the site safer for drivers and MTO Enforcement personnel. The letter states the existing location continues to be the preferred option but the MTO will need to acquire some property along the perimeter of the existing facility in order to improve site efficiency. A final design and study are expected to be available for review this spring. More information can be found at www.gananoqueCVIF.ca
